Sudan is currently in a state of civil war between two factions
- the Sudanese Armed Forces
(SAF) and the paramilitary
Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
After a recent military offensive, the SAF has taken control of Sudan's capital Khartoum away from the RSF.
The RSF remains in control of parts of the south of the country and nearly all of the large western region of Darfur.
The RSF has also recently unilaterally declared its own rival government.
